Sikkim has delayed opening schools and colleges


The Sikkim government has decided to reopen their schools and colleges in August. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the state task force chaired by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Friday. Earlier, the school-college was to be opened from July 1.
“In view of the increase in COVID-19 cases, there is a need to be more vigilant in resuming education activities in Sikkim,” officials said.
Schools and colleges will be reopened as per the directions of UGC and Central Government.
Officials said, “The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the examinations of Class 10 and 12 will be held from July 10 to 15. The examinations have been postponed due to nationwide lockdown on March 25. These examinations will be held All senior secondary schools in Sikkim will be run to avoid commuting to the center, ”he said.
Many Sikkim students appearing for the CBSE exams are stranded in other states and have been directed to apply for change of examination center in the district where they are currently staying.
