On Friday, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) reported that more than 33,000 candidates took the PG entrance exam. The test was conducted in strict compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines of the Central Government. The institute said that a total of 33,491 candidates appeared for the entrance examinations for MD, MS, MDS, DM, CH, Fellowship, BSc-Postbasic, MSc Nursing courses.
Following the guidelines, alternative seating arrangements with staggered entrances and reduced density have been implemented. Additional measures such as temperature scanning, mandatory use of masks, hand-sanitization, zero-communication between students and staff throughout the center were implemented and followed in spirit and letter.
Digital technology was used for registration and verification of candidates and the test was supervised by teachers from medical colleges and institutions in the region.
The institute said that in order to reduce the travel demand of candidates, the number of cities with at least one center in each state was increased from 60 to 157. Depending on the preference of the candidates, more than 97 percent of them were allocated to the city of their choice or within 100 kilometers.
